UK retail footfall rises week-on-week

Analyst, Springboard, has reported that footfall was less than 10% below the pre-pandemic levels in 2019 for the first time last week.

The company said that the levels had improved due to milder weather and footfall rose modestly across all retail destinations, with high streets outperforming both shopping centres and retail parks.

A continuing shift of employees heading back to offices also helped, shown by a larger rise in traffic in central London and other cities in comparison to market towns.

The improvement follows recent news from Springboard that rates had fallen in all retail destinations for the month of April, due to the cost of living crisis.
