“Birthdays are really important for us…”

Birthdays are always important in the world of party, so we asked head of marketing for Pioneer Europe, Julie Dommett, to share her take on the celebration staple.

Birthdays are one of the core occasions in the party sector – how important are they to your business?

“Birthdays are really important for us, it’s the first occasion that jumps to people’s mind when they think of balloons. While we do have a huge range of balloons for every event, it is still true that Birthday is the essential party occasion.”

Are milestone birthdays still key?

“Milestones are definitely important, as well as generic birthday. We have several milestone ranges across our latex, Microfoil and Bubble Balloon categories – with the recent extension of our popular Pink and Gold Dots range to include milestones from 18-70 proving very popular. Milestones can also be celebrated using number balloons – and the new Northstar Jelli Ombre number range satisfies popular demand for milestone celebrations with on-trend, colourful, air-filled product that consumers love.”

What is the main difference between adult and children birthday collections?

“Designs often differ between adult and children’s birthdays on balloons, but many of our designs are designed to work for anyone regardless of age or gender. These designs can be really important, especially for smaller trade customers who only have room for limited product.”

How many birthday collections or ranges do you offer?

“We offer over 350 unique birthday ranges so there’s sure to be the perfect balloon for everyone!
Designs with on-trend themes such as space, unicorns, dinosaurs, mermaids etc continue to perform well. Colourwise, the metallic lustre of Chrome balloons and ombre designs are also strong right now – and our recent launches of Chrome Copper and Chrome Rose Gold have been very well-received.”
