Boris’ Brexit proves to be a Halloween bonus

Despite now being delayed until 2020, the ongoing issue of Brexit has proven to be a Halloween bonus, with Boris Johnson being named as one of the most popular fancy dress options for children in 2019.

According to a recent poll by children’s comic The Beano, Boris came in tenth spot on this year’s most popular fancy dress list for children (aged 6 – 14). The list was topped by Pennywise the clown from the IT films, with Spider-Man coming in second place and The Joker in third.

The survey also revealed that more than half of families are drawing Halloween inspiration from Brexit. At least a quarter will dress up as politicians, while one in five will be using Brexit-themed decorations.

Mike Stirling, of Beano Studios, said: ‘”Kids today are far more clued up as to what’s going on in the world and, with Brexit on everyone’s lips, it’s unsurprising that we’ll be seeing hordes of mini Borises taking over the streets of the UK this Halloween — with a Jeremy Corbyn or two.”

The poll also revealed that the prime minister was named the second ghastliest celebrity of the 21st century by the children polled by The Beano. He came second to Donald Trump.
