Smiffys announces new licences for World Book Day 2020

Fancy dress and party company Smiffys has extended its World Book Day dress-up category to include a range of new baby costumes, including the officially licensed costume for preschool literary brand Fun with Spot.

The deal, which was brokered by Penguin Ventures, will be designed by Smiffys exclusively for toddlers and babies.

Eric Hill’s loveable puppy, Spot, is a firm favourite with preschoolers and parents alike as he has been an integral part of early childhood since he first appeared in the classic lift-the-flap storybook Where’s Spot? in 1980.

“We are excited to be bringing this loveable puppy to life with our dress-up especially as dress-up is an integral part of children’s development as they learn through play. Our Spot collection will allow toddlers to engage with the magic of storybooks” said Dominique Peckett, director at Smiffys.

Next year marks his 40th anniversary, coinciding perfectly with the Book Day 2020 launch.

Pre-orders can be placed now at smiffystrade.com.
