Folat introduces safe sky lanterns

Party company Folat has introduced a new take on the classic sky lantern. Called ‘Wish Balloons’, these have a string attached which allows them to be used as a kite.

Originally from Asia, sky lanterns have been popular across Europe for a number of years and are usually released during special occasions such as New Year’s Eve or a wedding.

However, they have fallen out of favour in recent years, due to the dangers associated with their release and eventual landing.

“Sky lanterns give a wonderful effect when they are set against a dark sky,” said Folat’s marketing manager Angela Reijenga. “But although made of biodegradable materials, we do not want them to end up in the local environment as they can cause a fire hazard for buildings and homes or be harmful to nature.”

Folat’s solution is the Wish Balloon, which – once enjoyed – can be brought in again like a kite making it safe for the environment, humans and animals. The Wish Balloons can rise as high as 30m into the sky.

The European-registered design is now in stock and exclusively available from Folat.

The Sky lanterns is provided with a rope with handle. You can choose how high the balloon will go in the air, with a maximum range of no less than 30 metres.
