Target unveils Halloween costumes for wheelchair users

American retailer Target has launched a new range of Halloween costumes designed and adapted specially for children in wheelchairs.

The two new costumes have been developed in partnership with Eek! Boutique, with the hope that they will help even more children take part in the holiday fun.

The costumes include clothing as well as an add-on which will cover the wheelchair while also making a feature out of it. The princess costume turns the wheelchair into a carriage, while the pirate design turns it into a pirate ship, complete with a Jolly Roger flag and waves for the wheels.

The clothing parts of the costumes come in small, medium and large, for ages four and up, while the wheelchair covers fit a wide variety of wheelchair sizes.

Target is also offering two new costumes (a shark and a unicorn) with flat seams and no tags, ideal for children with sensory issues.

The costumes are now available for pre-order.
