BOC rations balloon gas for six-month period

Helium supplier BOC has rationed sales of all versions of its balloon gas cylinders for the next six months, in response to the global helium shortage which is affecting supply at the moment.

A statement on the company’s website reads:

“Due to a global helium shortage that we believe is affecting all suppliers all pure helium and balloon gas orders are currently on a full for empty basis only. Please note if there is a discrepancy in your order or the number of cylinders being delivered and collected, this will be adjusted so your order is an exchange of full cylinders for empty cylinders.”

The UK-wide decision will also affect wholesalers of BOC balloon gas, who will also only be able to supply gas to existing customers, following the one-in, one-out policy.
