“We’re really keen to continue to support the high street,” reveals MorphCostumes’ Gregor Lawson

Now the dust has settled on last week’s announcement that MorphCostumes has acquired Fun Shack, PartyWorldwide.net spoke to co-founder Gregor Lawson to find out more about the surprise deal.

How has the news of your Fun Shack acquisition been received throughout the industry?

“Generally people see that it makes sense; Fun Shack has a great range of products and has been a really well run business and we have the distribution channels, including international opportunities, to take the business to the next level.”

Further to the information from your original announcement, what do you hope the buyout will bring to the MorphCostume business?

“A fantastic range of ‘evergreen’ costumes, which complement our existing range and a great team of people. By their very nature these costumes are proven performers over a period of time, so it’s great to have them as an addition to our current range. By broadening our portfolio of costumes we hope to appeal to more consumers and usage occasions.”

How much will it change/improve things for you, as a business?

“Over the last three years we’ve achieved great growth by making great products, marketing them well and distributing them through our retail and wholesale channels. Fun Shack’s range will allow us to accelerate this growth.”

Can you tell us more about the changes to some of Fun Shack distribution channels?

“While we have streamlined’ some of Fun Shack’s previous distribution channels, we are continuing to work with retailers who are incremental to our own sales channels. We’re also really keen to continue to support the high street.”

With that in mind, how should retailers looking to replenish their Fun Shack stock get in touch?

“Call or email the Fun Shack team in the usual way.”

What are your plans for the immediate future?

“Simply to consolidate Fun Shack’s UK presence and expand the brand internationally.”
