Asda promoting World Book Day range

Major supermarket Asda is already promoting its extensive range of World Book Day items, more than five weeks in advance of the costume-focused celebration of children’s literary favourites.

The retailer sent out an emailer at the end of January, showcasing its range of costumes and directing parents to shop from the range for this year’s World Book Day, which will be taking place on Thursday 7 March, 2019.

Characters which are highlighted in the mailout include fairytale classics such as Little Red Riding Hood (£10) and Alice in Wonderland (£14) as well as generic lines such as pirates (£10) which can be used across a wide range of stories.

The retailer’s official Harry Potter range – which starts at £15 – was also featured in the consumer marketing, while other licensed literary lines, such as Winnie the Pooh, Elmer the Elephant and The BFG are available from the website.

In total, Asda is offering 156 costumes and accessories under the World Book Day section of its website. Prices for children’s costumes range from £5 (generic bumblebee) to £17 (light-up Iron Man suit).
