Burns Night parties expected to benefit from Friday boost

An integral part of Scottish culture, Burns night has become an increasingly popular celebration, with many parties taking place in cities and towns across the UK and 2019 is expected to be even bigger.

Celebrated on 25 January each year, Burns Night falls on a Friday in 2019, so festivities are likely to be more raucous than usual, with larger numbers of people getting involved.

Although not solely the preserve of Scottish people, traditional Scottish dress is usually worn and so fancy dress parties are an increasingly popular way to celebrate the occasion, with tartan, kilts and tam-o-shanters all making an appearance.

Amscan also has an extensive range of Scottish flag tableware and balloons, perfect for decorating parties, venues and shop windows in the run-up to next week’s event, while Mask-arade’s Scottish mask and Morphsuits’ Scottish design are also good options for anyone looking for something a little bit different.

Burns Night honours the Scottish national poet Robert Burns, with traditional celebrations involve feasting on haggis, drams of whisky, ceilidhs and poetry recitals.
