Qualatex WBC features on CBS news

The Qualatex World Balloon Convention (WBC) was recently featured in a CBS special news piece focusing on the world of balloon artistry and the 2018 convention which took place in San Diego.

The article covered a number of different areas, starting off at the San Diego Sheraton where the WBC was held and talking with Connie Iden-Monds, a balloon artist in Nashville, Tennessee about how she got into the balloon business.

Connie led the USA team at the convention, creating a dramatic sculpture of Ursula the Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid which went on to win third place.

The writer also spoke to UK balloon expert Sue Bowler about her role as one of the judges at the convention. Sue explained that she looks for a number of different things; “Have they used balloons in a creative and an unusual way? Is what they’re making technically difficult? Have they hidden their mechanics?”
