Balloons Top Pinterest Trends

Giant Christmas-light balloons are all the rage on Pinterest, where the latest trend has been making balloons look like oversized holiday lights.

Pinterest’s 2017 ‘holi-yay’ report, released earlier this month, reveals that ‘giant balloon lights’ is one of the most popular holiday decor searches on the trendsetting website.

The number of people searching for the term and saving the result is up by a staggering 1,024%, compared to last year.

“People on Pinterest especially love the holidays, plan early and save more than 750 million holiday ideas every year,” says the report. “Thanks to our Pinsights team, we have a ‘best-of’ list featuring the top trending ideas for every holi-YAY celebration.”

Much of this interest has been generated by a number of bloggers, such as Amy Locurto from DIY blog Living Locurto, who offers a tutorial on how to make your own giant holiday-light balloons. Her online tutorial, which makes the oversized lights from light-up balloons, paper cups and ribbon, from has been shared around 115,000 times.
