The dust has settled on Halloween 2017 with retailers and suppliers now looking forward to Christmas and New Year. PWW spoke to a number of key suppliers to get their feedback on how the spooky season was for them.
“The scary clown trend was definitely noticeable this Halloween, likely to have been influenced by the new IT movie. Fitting in with this theme was our ‘Creepy Carnevil’ costumes for children, teens and adults, which proved popular. Day of the Dead remains another key theme; our adult costumes and wearable accessories were in high demand. In terms of partyware our Halloween themed piñatas were a hit, while the new Mr Skelly AirWalker – at 1.9m high – was one of the bestsellers for the balloon category.”
Charlotte Cox, marketing manager, Amscan
“Halloween is always a really strong seller for us. The usual items sold particularly well including costumes, masks and make up. Decorations continue to do well and we’ve noticed a growing trend in Day of the Dead and Scary Clown products, in particular.”
Bethany McCormack, marketing, Henbrandt
“Halloween is a growing occasion for Qualatex balloons with sales increasing on last year. Two of Qualatex’s top three sellers, and four of the top ten, were new products introduced this year, confirming it’s always important to be responding to latest trends, even for seasonal events like Halloween. We also noticed a pleasing upsurge in the amount of stores using Qualatex balloons as point of sale displays in their windows and throughout their stores.”
