Smiffys releases special edition Barbie costume for 60th anniversary

Fancy dress and party expert Smiffys has released an official special edition licensed costume to celebrate Barbie’s 60th anniversary in 2019.

The costume company has also signed additional territories with rights owner Mattel for Barbie licensed costumes, with extended distribution rights across a number of European territories for the adult dress-up lines, with immediate effect.

The full Barbie range is available to view at Smiffys showrooms in the UK and Amsterdam with pre-orders now being taken on the latest styles.

“We are delighted to be able to now offer Barbie adult costumes to our customers across Europe,” said Dominique Peckett, director at Smiffys. “Barbie is such an iconic global brand and it appeals to a wide audience. I’m especially excited about the new limited-edition, deluxe Barbie costume that our in-house creative team have developed for Barbie’s 60th anniversary.”

The special edition costume consists of sequin body, pink fluffy coat with printed lining and sunglasses, all presented in an exclusive branded Barbie gift box.

“We are delighted that Barbie’s adult fans can now celebrate the world’s number one fashion doll through some of her most recognised looks in this great new collection from Smiffys,” added Liz Reeve, consumer products manager at Mattel UK.
