New costume class added to NCA conference 2019

A new costume design class has been added to the National Costumers Association convention, which is taking place from 18 – 21 July, 2019 at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Kansas City, USA.

This year’s NCA convention includes a wide range of different educational classes, from RJ Haddy (finalist on FaceOff season two) leading a class on airbrushing and different types of face paint right through to Tyson Murphy (owner of theatrial store A to Z) explaining the best ways to look outside the box and explore new avenues within social media.

The newest class is called ‘ Pattern making and draping’ and has been designed to help retailers use standard store-bought pattern and adapt it to cut garments. The class, which is taken by Ken Burrell of Kansas City Costume Co, will help delegates learn to cut fabrics and scale down designs.

Other classes focus on imaginative cosplay, changing store displays, how to use 3D Tinsley Transfers and the benefits of basic balloon art and the ease of upselling balloons in your store (courtesy of Marion Bradley, NCA president and owner of Discount Costumes).

The National Costumers Association is a professional organisation promoting the artistic, historical, educational, and social nature of costuming. It encourages ethical business standards and creativity, offering a wide selection of member benefits in addition to a Buyer’s Group.
