Nation prepares for World Cup semi-final

Even the most casual of footfall fans would be hard-pressed not to know that England will be playing against Croatia in tomorrow’s second World Cup semi-final, meaning homes, pubs, parties and clubs will be breaking out the England decorations to get in the spirit of the ‘beautiful game’.

When this year’s tournament started our collective low expectations mean that there wasn’t a huge amount of product around, just a smattering of multicultural bunting and a few England flags.

Now we are just a matter of days away from the final (which England has a fairly decent chance of playing in) it’s a very different story.

In the past three months, Pinterest has seen a 1,180% increase in searches for World Cup-related ideas across the world, while searches for World Cup viewing party decorations has increased by a whopping 1,460% globally.

The design-led idea-sharing platform has revealed the World Cup decoration themes that are trending on Pinterest in the UK right now, which include drink stirrers, England banners, a football themed swirls hanging decoration, England paper party cups and football balloons.

Retailers who have planned ahead and have plenty of England stock are also taking to their keyboards to attract consumers, with football-themed social media posts driving excitement, interest and sales!

A number of party suppliers are also getting in the spirit of things with posts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram all fully embracing the football theme.

It’s definitely time to break out the England balloons and join the party!
