Watched avidly by fashionistas all over the world, London Fashion Week (16 – 20 February 2018) sets trends and celebrates the latest styles – and this year’s show has seen a number of high-profile names getting to grips with balloons.
The party trade has known that balloons are the height of fashion for some time now, but it seems as if some of the designers showing their latest collections at London Fashion Week have also caught on.
Both luxury label Anya Hindmarch and up-and-coming York-based designer Matty Bovan have used balloons to make a statement during the high-profile week.
York-based Matty Bovan used balloons to great effect during his first solo show at London Fashion Week, using them to highlight his ‘parallel world of post-apocalyptic utopianism’.
Meanwhile, Anya Hindmarch took the balloons off the catwalk and suspended giant red heart-shaped balloons over London landmarks. The balloons have been displayed at 29 key London locations, from Trafalgar Square to Wellington Arch. Anya has described the guerilla campaign as a ‘surprise love letter to London’.
Lastly, as a celebration of London Fashion Week, the ultra-fashionable Browns East boutique will be hosting an eccentric installation featuring balloons, where shoppers will be able to purchase a helium-inflated balloon to take away with them.
