EBPC partners with play expert for #CovidBalloonChallenge

The European Balloon and Party Council (EBPC) has partnered with play expert Dr Gummer’s Good Play Guide for its #CovidBalloonChallenge, an awareness raising initiative which aims to teach children to ‘pass the balloon, not the virus’.

Created by Dr Amanda Gummer, child psychologist and founder of the Good Play Guide, the #CovidBalloonChallenge encourages children and their caregivers to make the most of their time at home while also highlighting the use of balloons as a versatile and fun play product.

Chidren and adults looking to join in simply have to inflate a latex balloon, film themselves catching it from one side and throwing it out of shot on the other. The video clip should then be uploaded to social media with along with the statement below, before tagging friends and family to join in and take their turn. The social media campaign is using the hashtag #CovidBalloonChallenge.

“Pass the balloon, not the virus! Play is not cancelled! Let’s teach our kids all about the fun of playing at home by ‘passing’ on the balloon to each other in the funniest way possible. Let’s see your trick shots, fancy dress, slow-mo creations… Game on!”

The campaign is just one element of the partnership with Dr Gummer’s Good Play Guide, which also includes a 16 Days of Play countdown which is currently running on the consumer-facing EU Partysafe Facebook page which lists a different balloon-based game for each day.
